I think the fact that Facebook's COO cashed in their chips at the first possible opportunity last week, speaks volumes. Ive been saying for ages now that facebook will be dead in the water in a few years. People marvel at the fact that it has 1 billion members but amongst those members are grannies, teenagers, pscychopaths, spambots, numerous false accounts and various other irrelevances to the business person wishing to address a niche audience (let's say recruitment for instance). Less is more - niche job boards and trade media online career portals save the hassle of having to wade through all the bulshit and false profiles and allow you to get to the heart of a target audience that are there purely for one thing - to browse jobs within their industry sector. As I tweeted this morning "Saying Facebook has huge potential as a recruiting source is like saying
the Ford Motor Company should sell bananas. It's not their niche!" i.e. Ford has million upon million of people on their database but they stick to what they are good at - selling cars. What's Facebook good at? Well, according to some research I read this morning, 25% of its users have no privacy control in place; 35o million of its users suffer from facebook addiction, 85% of the women on there are annoyed by their friends, and it has 90% more links about sex shared than any other social media network. In short, it's inane. As such, once a new, more advanced and less crass alternative comes along, facebook will be history, or purely for what it;s main purpose is - to talk minutiae with friend and family or post pictures up when you're drunk.

This is my personal opinions to share:

1) I believe the Facebook will not last for another 5 years because the value that I get is too little compared to Linkedin and any other social media platforms.

2) Compared to Linkedin, Facebook business model is not as good Linkedin. From my opinion, in the current world, we need to focus on B2B rather than B2C. We offer something free to consumer (B2C) but make money from business (B2B). Totally depends on advertising revenue doesn't work since there are so many platforms offer it.

Second to last sentence really resonates with me: "We’ll want to know more about what it is that we actually get for our time and money." It would be wonderful if fb would send out updates on things like this so that page owners can know right away.
