The New Year is a great time to either start a brand new blog or revamp your exiting website. One of the ways to improve your blog in 2012 is by using plugins that make it more social media optimized and SEO friendly.
Having the right plugins can give you an edge over other blogs and can also assist you in gaining the extra functionality you need for your WordPress-powered site, especially if social media is an important part of your marketing strategy. Let’s have a look at the top plugins that I recommend you utilize in 2012. There’s a few new plugins in the mix together with several plugins that I recommended in my Best 2011 WordPress Plugins for Social Media and SEO that you’ll want to reference if you haven’t done so.
Social Media WordPress Plugins for 2012
There are many ways to utilize the power of social media to help spread the word about your blog posts. The 3 essential types of plugins you need to have here that I cover below are social sharing, social commenting, and integrating Twitter:
- Sharebar
While there are many social share plugins available, Sharebar provides you something that none of the others do: The flexibility to add the “share” code before it is “officially” supported by the others. In doing so, and with its other customization features, Sharebar allows you to feature only the share buttons that you want on your site. If you want to install the Buffer (one of the essential Twitter apps I use) code on your website, note that this is their “officially” supported social share plugin at the moment. - Disqus Comment System
Disqus is a separate comment blogging system that supports threaded comments and replies with varied indentions. WordPress does not support this by default, so this will make reading comment threads much easier. It also adds the ability to have your readers easily share their comments – and a link to the commented blog post – in social media. If you haven’t looked at Disqus recently, they have revamped their user interface and it is now much more responsive and easier to use. - SEO Facebook Comment
This plugin helps you leverage the power of Facebook by embedding comments in your site. It’s easy to setup and you can have it running within a few minutes. The plugin also allows you to define the width of the Facebook comment box to better fit your site’s theme. The debate is out as to whether you should utilize an all-inclusive comment system like Disqus or leverage the power of Facebook to help spread the wealth of your content on the world’s largest social networking site. But if you do want to take the Facebook route, this is the plugin that I would recommend to you. - Tweet Old Post
If you have been engaging and building a community of followers on Twitter, then this plugin is the perfect way to sprinkle your archived posts into your tweets. Tweet Old Post simply creates a tweet out of your previous blog posts, and sends them to your Twitter account. It even has options to add hashtags and leading text to it. The customization capabilities – and ease of doing so – give this plugin my thumbs up in the field of Twitter integration.
SEO WordPress Plugins for 2012
SEO is a never-ending battle for your blog, so you’ll want to make sure you have the right weapons on your side:
- All in One SEO Pack
This plugin optimizes your site by letting you easily add a Title and Description that will be indexed by Google instead of the default title of your blog post and first words of your blog post that is the present WordPress default. While All in One is and older platform that has seen a lot of new competition these days, it is still the default and no-brainer option here. All in One is also supported out of the box by Scribe (see below). - BWP Google XML Sitemaps
After successfully installing and setting up your WordPress site, you need to make sure that all your work doesn’t go to waste. Make your site known to search engines by using this plugin. As new posts are added, this plugin indexes your site quickly by updating the XML sitemap and pinging major search engines to let them know you have new content. There are other Google XML Sitemap plugins out there, but this one was recommended to me by a web hosting service sometime in 2011 – and I have stuck with it with good results. - Scribe SEO
I do not blog without optimizing my posts for SEO, which I do using this plugin. This is a plugin that helps your content rank higher in search engine results by analyzing your posts and making suggestions about how you can improve your post from an SEO perspective. With a click of a button, your content is evaluated and given a score based on its structure and keyword density – and you can rest assured that Google will see the same targeted keywords that you intended for every blog post and page of your website. - SEO Rank Reporter
This plugin gives you the ability to keep track of the keywords you want to rank on or are already ranking with inside the comfort of your WP dashboard. It can even issue you a report every three days by notifying you via email whenever certain keywords experience major changes in search engine ranking. A smart tool to help you monitor where your website stands in the search engine wars. - WP Smush.it
Images are the most resource-intensive content on a webpage. So, if you’re looking for faster load times, which Google has already announced is a factor in determining search results, then optimizing pictures is a good place to start. Smush.it automatically optimizes image compression when images are uploaded to your media library, and provides a simple interface where you can decide exactly how big or small you want your image to be. A no-brainer addition to your collection of plugins.
Web Conversion WordPress Plugins for 2012
Social media and SEO are two of the best ways in which your blog, and blog-equipped website, can be found. But once someone sees your content, how can you ensure that stay on your website and increase your chances of “converting” them on whatever call to action you might have? Check out these plugins to help you achieve just that in coordination with the above SEO and social media plugins:
- Premise
Premise makes building effective WordPress landing page templates easy. It’s loaded with features including graphics for your landing pages, copywriting advice, customizable landing page templates and full compatibility with the email newsletter services of Aweber, MailChimp, and Constant Contact. You can use Premise not only for traditional “landing pages” but also to create “Content Pages” to optimize the SEO of your past blog posts. - The Slide
The Slide is a free plugin that helps you increase your site’s page views. This plugin analyzes your articles and recommends past articles that are similar to it. It slides a discreet window at the bottom right of the screen which has a link to related articles the reader might be interested in. You can see The Slide in action on this website. - Outbrain
Showing related posts on your site helps reduce bounce rates and retains visitors so you can turn them into subscribers, clients and customers. Outbrain adds extra interactivity to your site by letting users rate your articles and check out related content based on the rates they’ve given. It also provides a reporting system that allows you to view your most popular, highest click-through articles. I’ve tried a few of these plugins, and right now my recommendation would be to use this one for ease of customization, good look-and-feel, and performance. - Hello Bar
This is a simple and unobtrusive web toolbar that sits across the top of a website. It lets you catch your user’s attention and leads them to a call to action. You can even customize the color of your bar, the text font, text color and a few other options so that it blends perfectly with your site. Don’t let the most valuable part of your website – the top horizontal space – go to waste! Guide your visitors to where you want to send them! - WPtouch
This plugin detects requests from smartphones and loads an alternate mobile theme for your site that best suits small touchscreens. The styling mimics that of iPhone applications, so the interface looks and feels intuitive to many mobile users. If you haven’t checked your latest Google Analytics you just might be surprised how many mobile visitors are visiting your website. Give them what they deserve – an easy to use and optimized user experience – for free!
For me, these are 14 of the best WordPress plugins for those who want a truly optimized blog for social media and SEO in 2012. Which plugins do you use to optimize your WordPress site for social media and SEO? Any ones that don’t appear on this list? New ones that you recommend to be included in this list? Give me a shout out in the comments below. Thanks!

This is a great list. Thanks for sharing!
Dino Dogan
I used Sharebar briefly and opted for DiggDigg instead. Love it.
I love DisqUs but Im using LiveFyre at the moment.
I love Tweet Old Post. Awesome plugin.
All In One SEO is an old fav, as well.
Scribe SEO, I never used it, I hear it’s not worth it.
I love WPTouch as well, makes my blog look pretty on iPhone
Point of contention, if I may.
I find Hallo Bar EXTREMELY intrusive. It’s all I can do to close it as quickly as possible. The Wibya bars on the bottom are no better. Tho I think Klout’s transparent way of presenting a bottom bar is ok.
And I never knew what the Slide plugin was called. I duno…maybe it’s just me, but those things jumping at me, they always make me run away.
This brings up an interesting question. Are these types of plugins (Hello Bar and Slide bar) really effective at keeping people engaged for longer?
I would say no way. Where is the data? And if there is some data, then where is the recent data?
Here’s the thing. These plugins may be effective at keeping people longer on the site when they first come out. When there is a novelty factor to them. When you havent seen them before.
But once they become commonplace -which at this point I think they are- we become blind to them.
I duno…I could be wrong, but they only annoy me.
Neal Schaffer | Social Media
Thanks for your comments Dino – I am honored!
My comments on your comments:
* I agree that Digg Digg is an excellent product, and they were included in my list of 2011. The problem is that I wanted to support Buffer, and because I am not a programmer, Sharebar made it easy. I also then noticed a Digg Digg problem with the LinkedIn plugin went away when I copied and pasted the code from LinkedIn into Sharebar. That right there is an example of a flexible and future-proof product. But if I didn’t need Buffer, I would also opt for Digg Digg.
* You can see from the comments after you that I have received a lot of contention over my choice of commenting plugins. My understanding of Livefyre was that you had to login through a social media profile to register – and for those that didn’t want to link their social media profiles with their comments, they were essentially locked out. True or false? And why did you change over?
* Glad you agree about Tweet Old Post. Simple – and it works!
* All in One is just a no brainer. I tried Yoast once and it was a headache. Yoast may make my list next year. but for the time being I’m sticking with AIO.
* Scribe is awesome – although there may be other tools out there, it has definitely helped in the SEO of my blog pages and posts. I believe it is well worth the cost. I’ll have to write a blog post about it to prove its value to you.
* WPTouch didn’t work for my last theme out of the box, but when it works, it is absolutely eloquent
* Let’s move on to your bone of contention. I agree with you in that I HATE the Wibiya bar. Hello Bar CAN be obnoxious – it’s all in how you use it. I lead people to other blog posts or other “soft” calls to action. If all they are used for is the old “Sign up for My xxyyy” or “Buy This Today!” then I agree.
What I have found with my Hello Bar is that I have had days where the click rate is above 1%. You can say, 99% of the people didn’t care. I say I was able to shift the attention of 1% to my call to action.
This also comes down to a philosophical debate. I get most of my traffic from Google Search. They come, they go. I want to do anything I can to get them to stay – and go somewhere I think they’d be interested in. That’s why that 1% is HUGE for me. And I monitor the CTR of my Hello Bar campaigns and change the content to keep it “fresh” when the rates go down.
Don’t know if that experience helps you in any way, but as long as I can get 1% CTR I’m going to continue to use it – and will continue to try to keep it “fresh” and “engaging.” Once people stop clicking I will agree with you
The Slide plugin only appears when you get to the bottom of a blog post. You could say, “Only the most engaged people go to the bottom, so why do you want to impede them with The Slider?” Well, I’m getting a 3% to 7% CTR here. Once again, that means that 93% to 97% of my visitors are ignoring it – assuming they get that far down. But based on my large number of visitors from Google Search results, I will take it as an interactive discovery tool to help expose my content to visitors.
Truth be told, web design trends change. A year from now these might all be “so 2012″ – but until then, I believe that bloggers should at least experiment and compare notes. I encourage everyone to comment here and share their rates and see what we can learn from each other.
I’m sorry if some of my plugins annoy you – it wasn’t intentional
Or was it?
@NealSchaffer
Gail Gardner
I encourage bloggers to give a lot of serious thought to what commenting system they use because that determines what blogging communities will support your efforts by reading, commenting and sharing your content.
I have seen some bloggers using Disqus also use CommentLuv so that they encourage interaction from both communities, but Livefyre is definitely totally separate at this point and their new philosophy of favoring Livefyre blogs and discriminating against others will drive them even further afield.
If your audience is traditional business Disqus is favored. If you are a giving person who helps others and are part of the trend toward paying it forward and creating a better world, CommentLuv is where you fit best. If you want to get more than you give, Livefyre is for you.
Right now I still read and share some non-CommentLuv blogs; however, as more and more quality blogs emerge to support, those not active in the community will keep sliding down that priority list.
Many of us are going to need to cut down on plugins to speed up load time, so whenever possible much of the functionality currently provided by plugins can be replaced with coding.
Other plugins become unnecessary if you use advanced themes; for example, if you use Thesis you don’t really need an SEO plugin any more. While All-in-One-SEO is still the most popular, I suspect that Platinum SEO is more powerful – IF you can figure out how to configure it.
I’m not really a fan of Tweet Old Post because I believe bloggers should be sharing their best pillar content when someone asks for it using something like iTweetLive instead of auto-tweeting just any post. If that plugin allows you to select which posts it shares it might be useful – but it is still more overhead for your blog.
I really do need to start using Smush.it and I regularly use Wp-optimize. My favorite plugin of all time is the new CommentLuv Premium that merged 8 plugins into one and is highly useful for any blogger who chooses to be part of the dofollow CommentLuv collaborative community.
Broken Link Checker is really useful especially if you link out a lot. Contact Form 7 is the plugin of choice for forms and AskKim recommended the OnlyWire plugin I’ve been running.
The biggest question I have about plugins right now is caching plugins. Most bloggers run either W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache, but both are difficult to configure and the most likely plugins to cause conflicts when updating WordPress or updating or installing other plugins. I need to put together a team to figure out what works best and then publish our findings. Any volunteers?
Joel Don
Neal,
Per Dino, have you had a chance to test the Livefyre comment system? May be the new (and improved?) kid on the block.
Joel
Neal Schaffer
Thanks Joel – Livefyre is definitely the new kid on the block, and I do see it coming up a lot. The funny thing is, right after I respond to Gail saying that I’m going to take a look at CommentLuv, I go over to Livefyre’s website and like what I see
I’m going to have to do some more research on this one before making a final decision…stay tuned!

why we need ‘All in One SEO pack’? doesn’t WordPress already have the permalink & tag options?
Zimbrul
Add for SEO plugin Yoast’s WP SEO Plugin and I also use SEO Image.
Regarding Livefyre Ive noticed there is a problem to post (Simply I Cannot) from my company’s computer whereas Disquis allow me to post without problem.
Still couldn t figure out which Social sharing plugin to use to be small but but sleek in the same time.
Ana | Traffic Generation Cafe
Not a big fan of Disqus, Neal – definitely cuts down on potential reader engagement; talking from experience.
Neal Schaffer
Thanks Ana. If you feel that way, do you recommend Lievfyre, or CommentLuv, or ? Would love your advice. Thanks!

Nice list. To my surprise I am only using a few of these.
Thanks for the sharebar reference. I didn’t know this functionality was out there.

There is one more useful plugin in wordpress called “SEO Smart Links”-It helps to link the keywords automatically to the corresponding pages.

Meandering around looking for options and opinions on new plugins for a new site and found WP SEO by Yoast, tutorial to set up here for Newbie’s http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-install-and-setup-wordpress-seo-plugin-by-yoast/ looks awesome. Has Sitemaps included plus, plus, plus.. so some older plugins no longer necessary.
Also experimenting with Social Media Widget on another site, add the plugin and structure according to your requirements as a widget.
Looking for a comments platform so some suggestions here I have not heard of will be looked at, thanks!
Daivd sneen
Darn you! I was satisfied with the plugins I have and was just going to work my blog.
Now, I just wrote 4 plugins on my to get list. Ignorance is bliss, but it will not pay the bills!
Nonoy
I wonder if I can put 2 or 3 SEO plug-ins at the same time. Would it be good or bad for your WordPress blog?
Neal Schaffer
Hi Gail,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and my apologies fo taking so long in getting back to you!
Interesting analysis on the comment plugins – and if there was one type of plugin that generated debate, it was this one.
Before I became a heavy Disqus user I looked into CommentLuv, and I felt that Disqus was more of a mature solution. I do realize that with CommentLuv’s recent upgrade, they have leveled the playing field.
I can see how CommentLuv can encourage more participation through its unique functionality. I plan to do some research into this – and will invite your feedback to include in a future blog post!
As for cutting down on plugins, I couldn’t agree with you more. However, the additional functionality is always attractive – which is why themes that build in more of these plugin functionality, like Thesis, are attractive.
Since your comment I have learned a great deal about how you use iTweetLive and I agree it would be a more ideal way to share content – but like anything else requires time. I use TweetOldPost because it is easy – and customizable enough so that it’s not too much of a spray and pray approach – although it is not the ideal solution.
As for your final question, I had so many issues with cache plugins that I decided not to use them at all. That being said, I have seen W3 be the recommended cache plugin from website hosting providers I have used in the past.
Thanks again for the comment Gail, and I’ll be looking into CommentLuv soon
Neal Schaffer
WordPress has permalink & tag options – but it does not give you the option to change the meta-title and meta-descriptions of your pages and posts, and these are critical for SEO. Make sense?
Neal Schaffer
Thanks for the comment!
I tried changing from All in One to Yoast some time ago and had a bunch of issues come up, so I changed back. Yoast definitely offers potentially more, but All in One works out of the box whereas Yoast didn’t. I look forward to trying out his plugin again in the near future.
I would love to use SEO Image, but it has never worked with my themes. Glad you got it to work with yours!
Thanks for the info about Livefyre. It looks robust, and I’ve never heard of this issue, but it’s worth noting. Wonder if any of the other readers have had this issue?
I think that, in addition to Sharebar, Digg Digg, which was on my 2011 list, is a great social sharing plugin which is small and sleek. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Neal Schaffer
Thanks for the comment! I actually included that in my list for 2011
Neal Schaffer
Thanks Joan! Yes, I have tried Yoast, and while it looks awesome, when I swapped out All in One it completely messed up my system! This was 6 months ago, so things may have changed, but I would tread carefully on that one – although I completely agree that it has KILLER functionality!
It seems that there is a division amongst commenting systems, with people falling into either the Livefyre, CommentLuv, or Disqus camps. This website uses Disqus, and has for a few years. I believe that Disqus is probably the “standard” by now, but you should definitely look into these other two platforms as well.
Neal Schaffer
Good luck with the new plugins Daivd
Neal Schaffer
As long as the functionality is not overlapping, I don’t see any issue. But there are always compatibility issues that you need to be aware of. Obviously, you never want to have multiple plugins implemented for the same functionality!

i use the yoast plugin for my seo but ive been looking for the best social media plugins so will give them a try. but i would like to state that i use the yoast plugin on my genesis framework theme and you loose the analysis tools that you normally have if you just use wordpress themes but it still great for optimising your pages and content

Thanks for chiming in Graham. You know,I gave Yoast SEO plugin a try, but it messed up a lot of my site. On the other hand, I realize that there are improvements being made to the plugin on a constant basis, and that it seems to be picking up popularity, showing up on the 1st page of the WordPress popular downloads page. I may have to give it another try…

You are correct – I need to edit this post, but as you can see from the comment thread I have moved back to the plugin I recommended in my 2011 list for social shares: Digg Digg
Nathan Roberts @ Blogspot SEO
Some very nice plugins there. I would definitely recommend Premise; it was so easy and quick to create an awesome looking landing page. I used AIO SEO Pack but then went to Yoast, found it a lot better. Anybody agree/disagree on this?
Neal Schaffer
Thanks for chiming in Nathan! Agreed on Premise, and it looks like Premise 2.0 is a solid upgrade. On paper, I agree that the specs for Yoast look awesome, but when I installed it on my site it created a bunch of problems. Now, this was several months ago, and I know it has improved since then. I even reached out to Yoast to ask for his help in installing the plugin!!!
On the other hand, Nathan, a good friend of mine who is involved in IT security asked me: Isn’t it safer to work with well-trusted plugins than to work with a newer one that does several things, potentially increasing your risk?
There’s no one right or wrong answer here, but glad to hear you got Yoast working for you!

Thanks for stopping by Pam – it’s an honor to see you here! Yes, I was a Digg Digg lover as well (they were on my 2011 list and I only chose Sharebar because Buffer recommended them!), so I agree that the buyout made total sense. Now if only they would fix how the Pinterest button works … or is it only my theme?

Wow – that’s a lot of plugins Phil! Would be curious as to your feedback – and do let me know if you find plugins on my list that are inferior to yours!

Hi, quick question. Does Disqus give you link back juice? From what i’m seeing no… am i wrong?
Neal Schaffer
You’re very welcome!
Neal Schaffer
Apparently Disqus does not give you link juice because the comments are not being indexed by Google. I have read of a way of hacking code to get the comments indexed, but sorry that I forgot the link. CommentLuv is a competing commenting platform that you may want to look at if you are looking into a solution with potentially more Google juice. Good luck with it!

Neal Schaffer
Yes, Hello Bar is quite eloquent, isn’t it?
Reza Ali
Very nice and easy….

Am looking for an events management plugin. Any ideas? I’m looking at Events Expresso and Events Manager.
Neal Schaffer
What do you mean specifically by “event management?” This is an area where I have yet to find many good WordPress plugins, but would love to know more details about what you’re trying to achieve. Thanks!
Reza Ali
Hi Neal. Thanks for taking the interest. I conduct seminars and I want to start using wordpress plugins to handle the workflow which is roughly:
- list my events
- allow others to purchase tickets
- allows package tickets for multiple events
- allows me to send free tickets (and get RSVP)
- handles reminders for the events to the purchasers (including cancellations if any)
- handles registrations at the event itself (maybe QR codes)
- allows follow up for comments on events and testimonials (even a feedback form)
- subscribe ticket purchasers to newsletter
That’s sort of what I’m looking for. I’m going to write to to the support centre for the plugins I mentioned and get their feedback on whether it’s possible.
p/s have you tried out speakpipe.com which is an app which allows people to leave internet voice mails. A great way to interact with the world and very elegant looking. I just installed it and it works brilliantly.
Neal Schaffer
Thanks for letting me know Reza! Well, you’re asking a lot from a WordPress plugin to do all of that for you! My approach would be to find a web-based service that does that but also offers a WordPress plugin to complement their service. Do let me know if you find a plugin that accomplishes all of that!
As for SpeakPipe, nope haven’t tried it out, but I get contacted by enough people through normal means that I don’t think I’d have a use for it. I’ll definitely check it out for my clients, though. Thanks for sharing!
Reza Ali
I know it can be done with a number of plugins. The challenge is to make them all talk to each other otherwise I’ll have to dome some offline work. The events management plugin I mentioned should be able to 75% of what I want. I’ll write to them. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Or if anyone is reading this who has a simpler way to do it, it’ll be great to hear what you think…
BTW This is a great resource page and am subscribing to your newsletter.
Reza
Neal Schaffer
Thanks for the compliment, Reza, and looking forward to hearing your report on event management plugins!
Yaseen Dadabhay
Great info as usual Neal ! Had seen recommendations for The Slide , but never considered, until i saw how effectively you use it !
Neal Schaffer
Thanks Yaseen!
Yaseen Dadabhay
Hi Neal. Once again thanks for the great info ! I started also using outbrain based on your recommendation, and cant wait to see the results.
A quick question for you : I noticed your sidebar feautures your Top 50 recent posts, including a thumbnail and retweet stats. Is this custom coded, or do you use a plugin to achieve it?
Thanks
Neal Schaffer
The Top 50 recent posts is custom coded…it’s a killer custom code that you think someone would write a plugin for, but I have yet to find one that offers the same visuals and control…

What do you think about livefyer and SEO by yoast ?
Neal Schaffer
Hey CamMi:
Thanks for the comment and question!
Livefyre is definitely starting to rival Disqus in terms of functionality. I have been a longtime Disqus user and have no reason to stop using it. I will say that Livefyre counts “Social Reactions” as comments, so if someone retweets your post it could be counted as a comment, which doesn’t make sense. On the other hand, the tagging features of Livefyre are pretty cool. Definitely worth trying out both platforms for a test spin.
SEO by Yoast is also a “newcomer” and gaining in popularity. If you were starting a website from scratch it would be great, but I had a number of integration problems when I tried it out on my websites. It also has a LOT of functionality, so while it could potentially replace multiple plugins, on the flipside you’re increasing your risk. That’s why there’s no reason for old blogs to change over, but if you’re starting a new one, you should definitely check it out.
Thanks again for commenting – and hope the above helps!

I think Yoast SEO is best as compared to All in one SEO. What do you think?
Effective SEO
The best tool that you can get for your site is one known as “All in one SEO”. This tool is no cost and is simple to obtain from the WordPress website. When you obtain it you will need to go into the alternatives web page and make some slight installation changes and then whenever you make a publish or make a web page on your website you will be able to record the key terms, make a conclusion information of the publish and make search term wealthy headings.

My comments on Yoast SEO are above in the comments

How can you get an access to use “The Slide”?

You ask nicely on their registration page. Worked for me.

Worked for me too Peter

Go to wordpress>plugins>add new> then type SimpleReach…no space in between the words…

Another two options for the comment system are livefyre and commentluv. Commentluv is powerful because it provides incentives for people to comment.
Neal Schaffer
Yes – check out the previous comments. I have stuck with Disqus for various reasons. but CommentLuv and Livefyre are also robust platforms to be looked into.

y would you torture us by listing the plugins without pictures!!!!

Kevin
Hi Neal, Kevin Stacey here..
First off, this post is extremely
thorough! I don’t see too many bloggers going into detail like you
have…that’s the mark of a blogger who knows their SEO plugins. For
optimization, free plugins like All in One SEO Pack and Google XML sitemaps are really great as
it lays down the basic SEO foundation for a WordPress site, but every
blog is different and nothing works best for everyone.
I always
suggest looking at a side-by-side comparison of the best seo plugins for
WordPress in order to make an informed decision of what the best plugin
is for that blogger and their website’s specific needs.
Here’s my most recent write-up on the subject:
SEO Pressor vs Easy WP SEO vs Scribe SEO http://www.bestseopluginforwordpress.com/wordpress-seo/the-best-seo-plugin-for-wordpress/
Check it out and let me know what you think.
Great article btw…I’ll be referencing this post on my main blog.

I have been using Sharebar and many other WordPress Plugins, they all are great. All in One SEO pack is also a good plugin.
Neal Schaffer
Kevin,
Wow! First of all, thanks for stopping by and adding a link to your AMAZING post! I just stumbled, +1ed, and tweeted it! Most thorough review of SEO plugins I have seen – and the detail goes way beyond what I have. EXCELLENT WORK!
I must say that I have gotten very used to using Scribe SEO, but your post makes me think there might be others out there that I should start looking at…thanks for sharing!
Neal Schaffer
Thanks for the confirmation Harry!

Great list, thanks for sharing. One question for you. I’ve been trying to find the “Recommended For You” plugin at the bottom right of your page. Can you tell me the name of this plugin?
Neal Schaffer
It’s The Slide – which is the second one in Web Conversion WordPress Plugins in the post.
Brian
Thanks Neal, I had trouble finding it since their site was down. I found it in WordPress, under Simplereach Slide, but saw they are in private beta. The contact link for them was also down. The plugin looks great, hopefully they’ll open access.
Neal Schaffer
There are a number of plugins that do the same thing. Make sure you test them for 1) look and feel, 2) response time and 3) customization. Good luck!!!

I haven’t tried using the Hello Bar. I thought it could be a kind of distraction to the user and even some might get irritated. But I didn’t think that it catches the user’s attention. I wasn’t aware of the reporting system also. Thanks for the informative share.

That’s a good list of add-ons and plug-ins for a more efficient SEO or social media marketing strategy. But I think the most important plug-in to use is the SEO rank reporter. With this tool, it would be easier to look for the most searched keywords in search engines. You can then use those keywords to be more effective in targeting your prospective clients or consumers globally.
Neal Schaffer
Thanks for the comment Darryl – and from a pure SEO perspective, Rank Reporter is definitely powerful.

Hi ,
I think you should add “SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2″ plugin to your best plugins for seo list. This plugin will help you to multiply blog traffic by strengthening on page SEO, increasing the number of indexed pages, auto convert search terms into post tags, and more.
Neal Schaffer
Thanks for the information! So I checked out SEO Search Terms Tagging 2, and while it seemed to have some useful functionality, it hasn’t been updated in a while and some of the reviews said the plugin was “broken.” Usually I only like to recommend plugins that have been recently updated, so I suppose the readers of this blog might want to check it out and see if it works or not… Either way, appreciate the suggestion! Keep ‘em coming!
