Windmill Networking is a blog that hopes to provide insightful advice and strategic tips on using Social Media focusing on but not limited to the following topics:
- Utilizing Social Networking and Social Networking Sites for Career Management and Personal Branding
- Developing Business and Increasing Sales through Social Media
- LinkedIn news, tips, and strategic advice
- Twitter news, tips, and strategic advice
Windmill Networking itself is a concept created by the author of this blog, Neal Schaffer, to help both professionals and businesses better understand social networking sites like LinkedIn and Twitter in the context of online networking and the Social Web.
Schaffer himself is an international sales executive with almost two decades of successful sales and business development in the technology sector in Asia. This experience, combined with his creating the book “Windmill Networking: Understanding, Leveraging & Maximizing LinkedIn” as well as his social media-related speaking and consulting engagements, has created the core framework of values for this blog, which are:
- You are your own company and need to be branding yourself as such.
- Selling a product and selling yourself are the same thing with only a difference in product.
- The core principles of professional and business networking in Social Media should be the same as if they were in person, the only difference being that of the medium.
- Businesses wanting to sell into the Social Web need to recognize that they are participants like everyone else and need to follow the same rules of etiquette and conduct.
The Windmill Networking blog, like the Social Web itself, is a continuing conversation. Hope you are willing to become part of it and participate with your comments. Thank you.
